Sleepwalker

Waking of Sunday, June 16, 2019 (comprised of raw note editings from April 5, 2023 through April 17, 2023 that I really hope sound consistent because I left it alone for too long)

Sleepwalker

I started up in Kakariko.

Where the ORB was.

....

The orb was in Impa’s house.

Impa’s house had the Worry Journal.

The Worry Journal mentioned Pikango.

....

I was going to find Pikango.

Maybe now that I had read the Worry Journal, he might have something new to say....

He usually turned up around Stables, and so I got to work sweeping the map, searching for Pikango at every single one....

Warping to shrine after shrine....

But.... I was....

....so....

....tired....

....

.

.

.

.

—Link gave an exertive little grunt and I opened my eyes.

I had accidentally climbed up onto one of the storage boxes outside.... what Stable was this?

Oh my gosh I was tired.

I’d been running on only three hours’ sleep.

Good thing I’d been facing a stable box and not.... some cliff or ravine.... or monster....

Where was I? What was next?

Lakeside Stable.

There was a girl named Cima there, at Lakeside, bearing a red exclamation mark next to her person.

Hadn’t seen one of those in a while.

I woke up a little bit more....

She related to me how frightened she was of the lightning whenever there was a thunderstorm.

Good heavens was Faron a poor choice for you, Cima.

She said lightning struck the stable so often that she became nervous at even the slightest bit of rain.... and then asked me if I could find out why.

Uh, why so much lightning, not why she was nervous.

I agreed.... But as it was not storming or even raining at the moment, I contented myself in the meanwhile with camping out for Farosh to make his passes over the lake. Got a shard of his fang for my patience.

I am so sorry, poor holy beast....

Eventually the rains did come—you never had to wait long in Faron—and I could see what Cima meant: Again and again and again the lightning pounded down directly onto the roof of the stable, shaking the building and the residents....

I donned my Thunder Helm for protection and.... probably asked Revali for a helping wing to get up there and see what was going on....

It was difficult to see in the flashing darkness of the storm, but as I drew near to the stable’s crown, I could see there was an axe hewn right into the horse’s forehead. My gosh....

I removed it, and went back down to the ground, but—

Cima was fast asleep.

It seemed I had waited into the night for the storm to arrive.

....

With nothing else for it I decided to just keep sweeping the Stables, but.... I never found Pikango.

When the sun was up again I returned to Lakeside and sought out Cima once more. I told her about the metal axe on the roof.

She was deeply grateful, and she gave me—

THE RUBBER HELM?

CIMA HAD IT?

....

Okay well I was a little more awake now, but....

Well heck.

BACK TO KAKARIKO.

I ran back into the woods to Cotera’s spring, and had her work her magic on the new piece of armor. She upgraded it past level two, and now that I had the whole Rubber set at such a level—I dived into my menus to see

....

Unshockable was the bonus.

....

Why this was like another Thunder Helm.

....

....

Well it looked kinda neat, as I wore it.... The Helm was shaped like.... Well I guess the easiest way to describe it would be to say that it seemed as though a fish had nommed onto my head and was now clamped there, its swiftly tapering tail flipped up in a little forward-bending prawn-curl over my crown, where the fin fanned out.

Kinda reminded me of the central Zoran palace, actually....

Similar to the Ancient Helm, my eyes could not be seen.

....

I gotta go talk to Pikango down there again, but....

....I was.... so tired....

Quit the game.

Bedtime.

Before The Storm

Afternoon of Sunday, May 5, 2019

Before The Storm

As I stand in the field....

The Piano plays The Legend of Zelda theme, small at first, delicately....

A muffled:

“...

Link...

Link.

You have recovered all of your memories

of us from 100 years ago...”

Her voice sounds.... weary. A weary kind of relief.

“I am here...inside Hyrule Castle.

It is now time for you to defeat Ganon.”

And the Piano stretching across many octaves resounds the last refrain.... as I clench my firsts and set my brow against the storm to come.

I am ready.

Lost Memories – Complete

WHERE IS THE LAST SHRINE?

I searched all around Nirvata Lake, suspicious of that line of three trees up on the cliff above the waterfall. Nothing.

I CLEANED OUT the Deplian Badlands, killing three Lynels along the way, but found no shrines there either. (That first Lynel didn’t even land a hit on me. Noice.) I did find some Koroks though. That Korok circle back by the east Lynel.... I had to kill the Lynel to get the rock for the circle. Well, to get it safely at least.

And west into the Drenan Highlands was the third Lynel. Forgot it was there; I hadn’t left a stamp for it.

Killed it. In the rain. With Shock Arrows. I had rather a lot of those. They come in handy.

I went east to west across the entire Deplian Badlands. And then some into the foothills. But couldn’t find any shrines, or any explodable rockfaces.

Got a few pieces of Dinraal, though.

And I was getting better at killing Lynels.

Hm, how about the Eastern Reservoir Lake? Vah Naboris had blocked a shrine when it was running wild; maybe Vah Ruta had done so, too....

Mm, but I didn’t explore the reservoir too deeply.... I drifted into the Domain proper and....

Well, it was my bedtime.

For once.

I was short on sleep the previous night. I did need it tonight. Had some goob shadowing me the next day about Top-Up, in which I just was not an expert.

Oh well.

No new words of wisdom from Prince Sidon or King Dorephan.

But lots of familiar faces I hadn’t visited with in ages.... Rivan, Dunma, Torfeau; Tula, Toma and Laruta, the Prince Sidon Fan Club.... little Tumbo and Keye running around the square.... Tumbo more full of energy, Keye more.... low key. And he said he hoped, if anything ever happened to them again, that I would be around to help again, aww.... ^_^ .... Mei.... Ledo.... good old Bazz. Was it Tula’s or Toma’s older brother Cleff who ran the inn? No, some other shop. I love that name....

And Cleff had married.... Kodah, who 100 years ago had asked me to choose between Mipha and her.

She apologized for doing that.

She still calls me Linny.

Went to the Seabed Inn, It was 3:something in the afternoon.

I slept on a regular bed until morning.

The Princess is a Nerd

Waking of Monday, March 18, 2019

Looking for Shrines.
Bottom of Lake Totori. Nope. Just a lot of swimming and Stamina games. And dripping through the air shafts.
The Devil’s Own Highway, via Moza’s.... enchanting abode. Nope. Just some Koroks and coyotes.
Purifier Lake. Killed the Hinox and the Lynel. Rusty Shield finally gave out in a blaze of glory.
Nope.
The eastern skirts of the volcano. Found some ruins, the Shadow Hamlet Ruins.... But nope.
The northeastern shore of the mainland. Nope.
There was....
....
I needed a Korok Leaf....
Warped to the forest and picked one off the ground. Finally spoke to one Kula the Korok, who wanted to see an Ice Rod. Heh, another Nebb....
I was busy.
Boating around Lomei Labyrinth Island. Nope.
Almost drowned when the wind blew away my boat after I swam to the border. But there was ground to stand on at the island.
No shrines.... where are there more shrines....
Tried a bit around the northeastern Central Plains. Nope.
The northern skirts of the Gerudo Highlands, as far west as I could go. Nope.
The eastern edge of that bowl of jungle-forest on the way to the Spring of Courage. Nope.
Hateno.
....Cooked more meals. That Lynel was brutal.
Bed.
Sleep.
Good night.

Just kidding.
Came back late when everyone else had gone toward bed. To bed.
Checked out Strock Lake. Very strange winds. Lots of treasure, a few Koroks, butt-tons of Lizalfos and a heckton of trouble. But no shrines. Nope.
Checked out the western edges of the Central Plains. Nope.
Hem and haw. Shilly Shally.
....
I shall.
I warped to the shrine near Serenne. And.... I moved toward the memory.
Uh.
There was a memory near there, just to the south and east a bit. A memory by a tree on a grassy hill, with the back side of the Castle in the distance. I’d seen it before. Even stood in it. Why did I never mention it before? How disgusted I am with myself as a journaler....
Maybe it was when I was looking for Mei. That run all the way across the Elma Knolls....
I did not rely too heavily on my map, but decided to go by sight in the midst of the thunderstorm. Stalgoons came out to waylay me, but I am a quick-change artist.
The first batch I left behind.
The second batch popped out right before I could get to the tree. Ugh. I did not want to wear down my weapons dealing with them, but I didn’t want to view the memory with them hanging around either. They all three told me their life stories for like three or four hours....
Dawn take you all and be stone to you,” I urged them under my breath.
And at five in the morning.... they did.
The Memory....

Zelda and I sat near the tree on a beautiful sunny day, Zelda taking pictographs of all the flowers she could find. We were just sitting. The flowers were so lovely....
“The flowers of Hyrule aren’t just beautiful,” she says, “But they are also incredibly useful.” She expounded on their various properties and their uses as herbs and ingredients.
And then.... she stopped, seeming to slow down and breathe as her eyes softened.
“This one here...”
And then I saw it.
“This one is called the silent princess. It’s a rare, endangered species. Despite all our efforts, we’re not yet able to grow them domestically.”
She stroked it so lovingly. I felt suddenly guilty for picking every single one I could get my mitts on....
“The princess thrives out here, in the wild.”
Her eyes still looked at it.... though they looked at a thousand things more that I couldn’t see.
Does she now.
“The best we can hope is that it continues to grow strongly out here in the wild.”
I looked over her shoulder at the flower.... before with an excited little yelp the princess lunged forward on her hands and knees like a child.
“Oh I can’t believe I’ve caught one! Look at this!” She turned back to me with her hands cupped in front of her. “Ta-da!” She opened them.
A green frog chirruped and puffed and wriggled in her palms.
“They say that ingesting this specimen can actually enhance certain attributes!” Her eyes became more focused than I’d ever seen them before; he speech quickened; it all seemed to come flooding out of her.
Oh . . . I breathed out a single, hard little sigh in the shape of a smile.
I could see now.
There you are, I thought.
The princess.... was a nerd.
“And we wouldn’t be in a controlled environment out here, but with your excellent physical condition,” she kept coming closer, “you would make the perfect candidate to test this theory!”
And closer!
“Go on!” she urged excitedly, thrusting the frog into my face as it hopped up from her palms!
“Taste it!”
I backed up.... gasping in.... hesitation for I dare not say disgust here why oh gosh she’s the princess....

Oh my gosh.... the princess.... is a NERD. X-)
After coming back to myself I took a portrait. Several portraits. Then culled. Narrowed. Until I was satisfied.
In flicking through my albums, I saw that the pictograph of Windblight Ganon.... it had four.... protrutions out the back, like Revali’s four braids.... and I felt.... sick....
Enough.
HATENO.

In Accordance with Guidelines

Waking of Friday, February 8, 2019 ~ 3

I WARPED TO HATENO.
I INVITED BOLSON AND KARSON.
AND THEN IT WAS BACK TO TARREY TOWN.
THERE WAS A WEDDING TO GET ON! 8D
Back in Tarrey Town, I visited with Bolson and Karson again, and then at high noon, I spoke to Hudson.... who started the ceremony.
And the Tarrey Town music was softly taken over by an organ. <3
Kapson officiated, standing at the head of the Goddess Statue Fountain. And Rhondson was so pretty in white! ^_^ She came walking down the “aisle” that was simply the space devoid of guests, and her clothing glittered in a pleasing texture: white top, bare Gerudo midriff, beautiful ankle-length flowing white skirt, white shoes, and a pretty white veil nested into her lovely hair. Heh, and Hudson looked all smart and handsome too, even in his vest and bare chest. It was a happy day. ^_^
“Hudson, Before the eyes of these witnesses and before those of Goddess Hylia...” Kapson began, “Do you take Rhondson to be your wife, to have and to hold, in good times and in bad?”
“I do.”
“Excellent. And Rhondson...” He turned to the Gerudo, “Before the eyes of these witnesses and before those of Goddess Hylia... Do you take Hudson as your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health?”
The camera buckled down unusually close to the old fish’s face, his big glassy fish eyes staring....
“And do you also vow to...name your children in accordance with the Bolson Constrution naming guidelines?” I CAN’T BELIEVE HE JUST SAID THAT.
Rhondson said, “Wait a moment... Those vows are not traditional by anyone’s standards!” Well that was putting it lightly!
“What makes you say that?” said Hudson, turning. Hudson!
Bolson stood up. “They’re as traditional as it gets!”
And Karson chimed in, “I don’t think she means traditional in that sense of the word.”
“A vow of undying tradition!” Fyson cheered. What in the heck, Fyson? You weren’t
“And a vow of guidelines compliance!” Pelison added. He was still wearing his big ol’ yellow construction helmet.
And, “I’ll take that vow!” said Greyson. Gorons! @@
“Think of future generations!” Hudson said to her.
Rhondson didn’t say anything, but only looked.... doubtful.
The moment hung in the air. Young Karson looked on from behind with his mouth open in anticipation. Everyone was waiting....
Rhondson shook her head, put one hand on her hip, and momentarily lowering her voice uttered, “Well, those are the guidelines... I do.”
“Excellent,” said Kapson with an unruffled grace.
He cleared his throat with an aged little cough, and continued, “And so, dearly beloved, please help me in greeting this newly married couple.”
The bells were ringing, the confetti was flying and everyone was clapping and cheering!
Haha, Bolson was tossing the confetti!
What in the heck just happened? @@
Kapson sang out, “I wish this new couple nothing but the utmost happiness as they set out on this journey of marital bliss!” As the camera panned up to the blue beautiful sky....

Hudson and Rhondson’s wedding was a shining beacon in an otherwise dark, dangerous world,” said the Quest Log.
Rhondson was a little taken aback by a few of the vows, but everything worked out fine and is in perfect compliance with Bolson Construction’s guidelines.
It’s only polite to give your blessing to the lovely couple who just vowed their undying love, so go talk to Hudson.”

I spoke to Rhondson first, though.
“The wedding ceremoy...wasn’t what I expected, but it was special all the same,” she said, “Did you like the dress? I made it myself.”
“No kidding!” I said as my only response. XD <3 ^_^
“Although Hudson wanted me to weave the gems he mined into it, so every step down the aisle was a struggle.”
Heh, but she made it look good.
“Well, that’s life for you, with all its twists and turns. I hope you’ll stick with us through them.”
You bet I would, Rhondson! ^_^
And then Hudson.
“Hey. It’s you,” he said at my approach. “Thank you for attending the ceremony. ...*sniff*”
Oh gosh my CHOICES: “Are you crying?” and “Congratulations!”
I said.... Oh, man to man, I should have said Congratulations! But.....
BUT I’M A GIRL PLAYING THIS GAME.
“Are you crying?” I said!
“What? No. Just something in my eye...” He offhandedly wiped his face. “And now Tarrey Town looks like a real town at long last.”
Heh, yeah, it did.
“This was all possible because of you. I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work you did. All right. This is for you.”
And he gave me.... three diamonds!
“These were found inside the boulders we smashed when we were clearing land. Rhondson and I have no use for them. You can take them.”
That was a valuable gift!
And the giant sidequest’s banner flashed across my screen:

From The Ground Up ~ Complete

Well that felt good. ^_^
The Quest Log now read:

Hudson and Rhondson are happily married, and Tarrey Town is enjoying great prosperity.
As a sign of appreciation for bringing the town together and as compensation for your work, Hudson gave you a hefty amount of gems that were unearthed during the town’s construction.
You wished the couple eternal happiness before heading on your way.”

Aaawwwwwww. ^_^ <3 <3 <3

Tarrey Town certainly was feeling more peaceful. Moggs and Monari his wife hadn’t heard the people across the way argue in quite some time. Moggs figured every time they overcame an obstacle together their relationship grew stronger.
Man I was running out of gas.
I think I’ll spend the night in the inn (it’s 7:00pm-ish, game time), and then go to bed. Got that 10K in the morning....
Kapson is such a kind host. “Link... Are you in need of a good sleep and a hearty meal?”
“Yes.”
“I thought so. Thanks to the benevolence of the Goddess Hylia, I can offer you a place to stay. When would you like me to wake you?”
“Morning.”
“It shall be done.” So officiatious, Kapson! XD “Now then, time for a short rest...”
The screen blacked out and that nice little go-to-bed music played.
.... He didn’t charge me. ^_^
“Did you sleep well? May the kindness of Goddess Hylia be ever with you...”

Tarrey Town’s music was so lovely. <3

Basecamp

Waking of Sunday, January 6, 2019 ~ 2

It was so much easier to get to Kaysa now that I could warp directly to the Tabantha Tower. With the Red Lizalfos tails I had collected, I had her do up my Snowquill Ensemble to its highest level! And then.... I think I am set....???? I thought wildly.
Back to Rito Village. I could only explore for so much longer. At length.... I came back to the Painted Landing—now Revali’s Landing—and aligned myself to the snowy clifftops Saki had indicated before. The Flight Range was somewhere over there. The distance looked manageable....
I was ready.
I leapt off the landing and began my paraglide over the lake. But what was my surprise before I even reached the other clifftop shore.... to see Kilton’s Balloon parked down there behind a rock near the edge.
I went to visit with him, taking my time perusing his wares, but he had nothing new.
FORWARD.
The cold pressed in at once, here near the icy coasts of Hebra once more. There was even snow on the ground. But my newly enhanced gear was awesome.
I did have to switch over to my Snow Boots after just a moment, though. If I wanted to move fast. And I did, because DANG I ran into a lot of trouble with mounted Bokoblins, an extraneous Yiga man who really should’ve been at home before his fire, and a number of Stalmoblins. And wolves.
Always the wolves, man....
But thanks to Kaysa, my Snowquill Ensemble was strong as well as warm. I cut and fought and bowled my way across the snow until I made it through to the Sha Warvo Shrine.
Path of Hidden Winds was the trial inside. Tricky!
Onward....
On into Dronoc’s Pass.
The Flight Range would be near here.... I could see the way I needed to go. But.... there was a dwelling over there, just to the north, nestled against the foothills of the mighty Hebra Peaks.
I just went to check it out....
The Hebra Trailhead Lodge this was called. Seemed to be some kind of basecamp.
No one was home, though.
Well, almost no one—there was a book. “Selmie’s Notes”. Selmie had been here?
Oh, she left survival notes, and mentioned that she’d left supplies at the bases of the flagpoles along the trail. That was nice of her. :)
Somebody else added....
“Selmie! Baby! I think I’m a better shield surfer! If I prove it, can we get married?”
And below that, an up arrow, and: “This total loser will never win!”
And then: “I didn’t know what love was until I saw Selmie sliding down the slopes... I can’t believe you retired... Where did you go?”
“Selmie, thank you for leaving the food! I’ll make good use of it here in the hut!”
“I saw some kid north of Coldsnap Hollow! He looked like he was pretty great at shield surfing!”
These must have been notes from other travelers. ^_^
“Selmie, thanks for the food that was left here. It seriously saved my life. I’ll be sure to leave some for the next person.”
“To whoever is reading this, please take as much of the food as you need.”
That was the end.
And well.... given express permission.... I helped myself, too. <3
When I came back outside, there was a dude by a fire.
I could be in the mood.... I approached him.
It was a Traveler all right.
I killed him.
Okay, to the Flight Range....
But....
No, it was late. I’d spent all day combing around this frosty little valley, and the icy night was fast approaching.
I decided instead to sleep in the lodge until morning.

Brazen Peacock

Waking of Saturday, January 5, 2019 ~ 5

How fitting. He would take the top of the five-hundredth page.

The Divine Beast hovered massively up in the sky. I could see it from where I stood on the Painted Landing. Alone.
But a RUSH over the railing, a howling whirlwind straight up into the sky, and Revali came up from below, stalling out at the top with a careless flourish before dropping perfectly onto the rail, gripping it surley beneath his avian toes.
“Impressive, I know,” he crooned. That rapier voice.
He spoke smoothly of how few could achieve a mastery of the sky. But with his artful technique he was able to create a powerful updraft that allowed him to soar up into the heavens—“A superior and masterful skill, even among the Rito.” Or some such words. He lovingly admired his handsome, blue-grey wings.
“Now then,” he said, hopping lightly down onto the landing, “pardon me for being so blunt, but let’s not forget the fact that I am the most skilled archer of all the Rito.”
He was almost.... circling me.
“And yet, I have only been tapped to merely assist you, just because of that darkness-sealing sword on your back.” The rapier twisted a bit. “It’s just... asinine.”
I drew my head back where I sat on the couch.
Whoa.
With his skill, he said, he didn’t see why we couldn’t easily dispense with Ganon.
“Of course we could just settle this one-on-one,” he leaned in close to say. “But where? Hmm...” He cast about in grand mockery. “Oh, I know, how about up there!” And he threw one wing toward the Divine Beast as sunlight glinted off its bronzebeigy form in the brilliant day.
“Oh, but you must pardon me!” The rapier glinted in razored jolity.... before plunging once more into my forehead. “I forgot you have no way of reaching that Divine Beast on your own.”
And with a spread of his wings, he thrust up into the sky, that updraft of his.... And as he powered away so hard and fast—“Good luck sealing the darkness!” he called back.
And he was gone.
Man....

CHAMPION DESCENDANT!” Saki yelled again, and I snapped to. “Are you all right?”
I was.

He seemed.... a little full of himself.
Mipha loved me.
Daruk was friendly with me.
Urbosa respected me.
But Revali?
....
I didn’t know what to make of Revali.

He’s neither crazy nor blind, I finally thought in Mr. Harris’ voice.
He’s just vain.
Poor, vain fool....

Harth opened up to me a little more then, too. He told me about Teba, and said that yes, he could be hot-headed, and a little rude. But he and Harth, they looked out for each other.
I.... probably needed to go to bed.
I did. At the Swallow’s Roost. A lady Rito named Cecili checked me in.
“Only stalkoblins are up at this hour, traveler,” she said.
Don’t you know it.
I took the Rito Down Bed for the higher price of 80 rupees. Didn’t often get the softer beds. This one had sound in the blackout. Soft fluffing and even breathing sounds. Ahhhhh.
I woke up with full hearts plus three extra, and an extra stamina wheel.
Naaaaaice.
GOOD NIGHT.

BIG BOYS

Waking of Friday, December 7, 2018

In studying the network of bright blue shrine markers on my map, I could still see a few empty spaces between them, too-broad empty spaces with conspicuous geography that looked.... likely....
I warped to the Qukah Nata Shrine high above Faron’s waterfalls, and wandered into the wetlands—the Rabella Wetlands these were called. I could see a spot on my map that looked like somewhere I’d seen David visit before....
And I found it. In the middle of a leafy, dappled plateau, an enormous ribcage jutted into the air, points to the sky. And in the middle of that ribcage, snoring grotesquely away.... a big Black Hinox. I remembered seeing David throwing Bombs at this one from one of the ribs....
The Hinox was surrounded by lesser meanies, just Bokoblins, and these I drew away one by one with my Mask, dispatching them each privily in a manner that did not make me feel proud.
But when it was just me and the big guy, I was able to get closer, and I saw that it had.... an orb?
On went my Barbarian Armor and I killed it then and there! With Urbosa’s help. I was just briefly bewildered during the short time its life-meter was visible. For this one wasn’t just a “Hinox”, but it bore the secondary title of “Eldest Kin”.
Oh yeah, I remembered, It had said that when David was fighting it.
What was this some kinda Super-Hinox?
Well if it had been before, it wasn’t now.
I looted the spoils. Now where the heck did this orb go....?
I looked around, and.... there! There seemed to be some ruins of a sort just a bowshot away. I hefted the orb over the grass and drew nearer to the ruins and—
What the? Three pedestals??
I set the orb in the pedestal nearest to where I had come from, and approached a small stone marker. The inscription on it said something about orbs guarded by three giants....
And the shrine quest banner flashed across my screen: The Three Giant Brothers.
Heh, it sounded like a kind of fairy tale. ^_^
Well then! Two to go, I supposed! :D
So I had killed the Eldest Kin in the Rabella Wetlands. I spread out and searched now in the directions indicated by the remaining two pedestals....
In a place called Uten Marsh, as the sun was going down, I found the Youngest Kin, a Red Hinox. He was just a little bit down the grassy hill, and so was very easy to get to with my paraglider. So easy, in fact, that I took my flight just a little bit farther than I’d ever gone, and landed right on his big sleeping chest!
He didn’t wake, but only continued to snore.
Link meanwhile adopted the broad-stanced, bent-kneed posture he took on whenever danger was near, and glared with ready eyes down at the beast. But at every heaving breath from the monster beneath his feet, his arms would windmill just slightly, and he would have to twine his torso aright with a little jerk to keep from losing his balance.
David, look at this!” I choked in a whisper.
“Oh my gosh, what are you doing?” He didn’t sound shocked or impressed, just.... resigned. :|
I stole the orb right off the Hinox’s necklace, turned, and stepped off the side of his big red belly....
I hit the grass with the expected clomp of my boots and little gasp from my lips after the drop.... but the Hinox didn’t wake up.
The orb was still in my hands, still held high over my head. I’d been afraid I would lose my grip on it in the little freefall and it would clonk loudly against the ground, or strike the Hinox. But nothing had happened.
And so I started walking softly away through the darkness, back toward the hill.
Well this was going to be cake! I thought. ^_^ I could just walk off with it!
But I stopped when the ground began to incline, and remembered.
I still needed Hinox guts.
I set the orb down in a place where it wouldn’t roll, and.... I actually felt a little bit sad, when I went back, and just.... killed the thing.
Red ones don’t especially drop a lot of good stuff anyway, but it never hurts to check.
And when I came to Hanu Pond and found the Middle Kin Blue Hinox.... I wasted no time there either, but killed him right away too.
And when I went back to the ruin and placed the last orb in the last pedestal, the Tawa Jinn Shrine appeared. It was a Blessing.
That was 105 shrines for me. David was still at 109? Maybe....?
I continued to wander all over the wetlands. I thought about going up to that one high plateau to kill the Lynel, but.... eh, I held off.
Wandered.... wandered.... I meandered looking for Koroks and new things to explore until I came back to whatever peak that was—the Peak of Awakening? Mount Floria? It was Mount Floria. The Peak of Awakening was above the Lanayru Road.
Mount Floria was the name of the mount between the provinces. The one above Misko’s Treasure Cache, and the Twin Bridges. The peak from which you could see both the Valley of Terror spread before the Dueling Peaks Stable, and the jungled plateaus of the Faron Province.
It was the crest from which I had first seen that Lynel-haunted plateau. The Lynel had been Blue that first time—the kind I’d always wanted to fight, but had never gotten the chance to.
Tougher Lynels kept showing up all the time.
I had a look at the Lynel down there now. Looked like another White-Maned one. I scoped in for a better view, not knowing what in the world possessed me to use my Pictobox zoom instead of the regular scope....
And as the reticle passed over the Lynel, the targeting box briefly flashed, but it was.... orange? What in the heck—The box only ever turned orange if the subject hadn’t yet been logged in the Compendium. I thought I’d already pictographed a White Lynel....
I steadied the Pictobox, and looked again. Lined up the reticle.
And the Sheikah Slate identified it as....
A SILVER LYNEL?
THE HECK.
....
.__.
....
WELL.
I’D JUST HAVE TO FLY DOWN THERE AND GET IT THEN.
I donned my Lynel Mask, and laughed as Link puffed out his chest and cast back his arms in muscular majesty. Forgot about that one. XD
I paraglided in, and could see the subtle differences now. It was still striped like a monstrous Zebra, but it was not so much black-and-white as purple-and-white. Like the other silver creatures, Moblins and Bokoblins and Lizalfos, pale with purple markings.
The thing had 5000 HIT POINTS.
DANG.
....
SO I GOT TO IT UNTIL IT WAS DEAD.
....
Hey I needed the Lynel bits.
After that I kept wandering, just finding a whole lotta Koroks. And finally a claw from the dragon Farosh as well.
More wandering, more wandering, more wandering in the Wetlands.... That would make a good title. Wandering in the Wetlands. Or Wetland Wanderings....
Just a few more Koroks, just a few more Koroks.... I was up to seventeen; if I could just get to twenty, Hestu could fill my last shield slot, and then.... I could find out what would happen next. Just a few more.... Huh, I wonder what color the southern Corridor Lynel is....
I warped to Ishto Soh to check.
It was Silver.
Just my luck.
I didn’t bother with it.
Any more Koroks....?
Hhhhhh.
Running out of juice, I warped to Tera and upgraded a few clothes. Soldier’s Armor all up to level three.... Barbarian Leg Wraps up from level one to level two.... which meant there might be a perk....
And there was! My charge-attack stamina was.... up? Or something? Did that mean.... I could charge up a spin-attack without wearing out so fast? Like how in the Zora Suit I could swim harder and faster without wearing out?
I dunno I’m tired.
PEPP’S AND BED.
GOOD NIGHT.

Clean Up Your Room and Go To Bed, Hero

Waking of Friday, November 16, 2018 ~ 2

From the Maka Rah Shrine....
Tera. I went to Tera.
I had two Naydra hornshards now.... I could have upgraded my Champion’s Tunic.... if I wanted.
....
I DID. I UPGRADED THE CHAMPION’S TUNIC, and finding myself in possession of further required materials I KEPT UPGRADING UNTIL IT WAS AT ITS MAXIMUM LEVEL, WITH 32 DEFENSE! MORE THAN TWICE WHAT IT HAD BEEN AT BEFORE. AND I UPGRADED THE HYLIAN CLOTHES. AND THE ZORA AMOR. AND THE ANCIENT ARMOR SINCE I HAD SIXTEEN CORES NOW. AND THE DESERT VOE GEAR. AND THE ANCIENT ARMOR AGAIN BECAUSE ON THE NEXT AND FINAL UPGRADE EACH PIECE REQUIRED A STAR FRAGMENT AND TWO GIANT ANCIENT CORES. And well.... I just happened to have SEVEN GIANT ANCIENT CORES ON ME. And if I hadn’t been saving them for this.... then what?
UPGRADE ALL THE THINGS.
AND EVERYTHING HAD BEEN CAST TO THE BACK OF MY INVENTORY.
AND ALL MY FAVORITE CLOTHES WERE OFF THE FIRST PAGE.
AND EVERYTHING WAS OUT OF ORDER AND WOULD TAKE FOREVER TO MANEUVER BACK TO EVEN SOME SEMBLANCE OF ITS FORMER STRUCTURE BY FAIRY-ENHANCEMENTS ALONE.
IT WAS ALL OUT OF ORDER.
AND THEN.
I SORTED MY CLOSET.
SORTED SORTED. And it was done now. Couldn’t undo it.
It was done.
And that was all right.

Hoo. Andrea: 1, OCD: 0.

I went to Kakariko to test my maxed-out Guardian Armor, but stopped to talk to Impa on the way. I tried to get that orb in her house again, but no, not yet, she still wasn’t having it.
What happens when you bring it to the pedestal up the hill?
Hhhhh.
I guessed I wouldn’t find out today.
So out the back I went, onto the Sahasra Slope; and a sharp left turn and a hug along the cliffs brought me as always to my favorite monster to milk: the Pit Guardian.
Once I’d attracted its attention, and the terrifying Piano began ripping up the sky above my head in a panic.... I stood my ground, and waited. Facing it.
I let it hit me full on once, in my Ancient Armor. And the hit took off.... five or six hearts.
I’d seen Lynels take off more than that in a single hit.
Well that was cool! :D
My curiosity sated, I killed it.
And it gave me a Giant Ancient Core back. Part of the Ancient Proficiency perk? Maybe.
Ah, life was good.
Shortly thereafter I was distracted by a star fragment that fell into the central plains. I went to get it and came back via the Dueling Peaks Tower. I killed the other two Guardians near the Pit—and the freakin’ stalcreatures were out and making life difficult—but DANG the sound my glowing sword made when it killed was like THUNDER.
RESOUNDING.
POWERFUL.
MY GOSH.
Feeling brash and bold and amazingly confident in my armor and with my parrying skills and wielding the Master Sword, I worked my way back infield and onto the plains. I was going to go to the ranch! To see what was there.... Maybe another horse! Maybe another special horse!
I forgot the Guardians and whatever paltry bother they posed! I was comin’ up bold as brass! I killed the Guardians that spotted me! AND dodged those freakin’ pesky mounted Bokoblins!
That one Big Yigaman posed some problems; I was fighting with him when I again heard the Guardian music! I killed him quickly, and then faced the mechanical menace. It was hard and I took some blasts to the face, but I got him in the end....
NOW to the ranch....
But oh, wait.... my controller was in the red.
....
I could have used the Pro Controller.... David favors that one, and I’ve used it a few times.... like whenever my battery’s run low.... But.... Hm, maybe not against Guardians yet....
I set the WiiU Controller in its cradle, and.... dozed.... on the couch. It was late. But I didn’t wanna let it sit for more than an hour, or it would turn off.... dozed.... dozed....
And I SNIFFED AND SAT UP OH I WAS TIRED.
Ugh
I couldn’t do the ranch right now.
I warped to Pepp’s. Slept and saved it. Went to bed.
That was enough.

Another Hat!

Waking of Saturday, August 4, 2018 ~ 2

I sand-sealed back to Gerudo Town and found Barta again. As we visited in the barracks, she confided to me that when I’d shown up out there in the desert, she thought the voe of her dreams had appeared.
....Heh.
I also spoke to Liana, and she was so happy I’d found Barta, she said, “Here, take this,” and handed me a hundred rupees, “Go buy yourself something nice at the market.”
Aww, thanks, Liana. ^_^
I said hi to Captain Teake on my way into the palace, where I saw that young Chief Riju had a certain red exclamation mark above her head.... Had I really already....?
I spoke to her.
“You’ve brought back the smiles to my people,” she said, “I know that you more than anyone else will be able to use this helm to its full potential.”
Or some.... such.... words.... Ah, that wonderful little ITEM GET song played, and I found myself in brand new possession of the Thunder Helm.
I was now LIGHTNING PROOF.
SWEET.
Would it make the same bubble-effect in a large radius around me? Would it glow?
I almost tried it on right then and there, but I remembered myself, and where I was.... I would have to leave town first.
I took my leave of the palace and jogged outside to put it on and have a look at myself!
....
There was no glowing or magical effect. Which wasn’t completely unexpected. I was sure it would still protect me well enough....
It did make me look just as buggy-eyed as it had done the Chief, but it was otherwise very shiny and ornate!
Cool. ^_^
Agh but I did not want to stop—I warped to Dueling Peaks to check with Hino just one more time.
But Hino wasn’t there.
I blinked and turned to gather Swift Violets from around the waterfall behind the shrine for a bit.... and after I had plucked as many as I could, then Hino made an appearance.
But there was no Blood Moon tonight.

Hhhhh.

It was in the three o’clock hour in the afternoon. A bit later for myself on the couch.
....
I just went to bed, and slept until morning.
Good night.

Sand Seal Rally!

Waking of Saturday, July 28, 2018 ~ 8

I continued talking with everyone I could around Gerudo Town, looking for more days to save, until I came to one gateway guard who mentioned the Sand Seal Races. She told me where they normally took place, and said that, now that the Divine Beast was gone, they could race again.
Oh could they now?
I ran out in the indicated direction, just to a little hill in the sand with some palm trees. I could see no discernible racing track, but near an ancient Sheikah dais I found two Gerudo vai just kind of standing around.
One of them had shaded goggles over her eyes, and the reddest fro I had ever seen.
This was the legendary sand seal racer Tali, and beside her was her elderly trainer, Shabonne.
When I spoke to them it was Shabonne who answered—she blew and blustered on about how sand seal racing was a fast-paced, hardcore sport, and how difficult it was, and that a little vai like me couldn’t really hope to be any good at it, especially against somebody like Tali, who was their most celebrated racing champion, and who held all the records, and who was generally the best of the best and why the heck didn’t I just fall down and start worshipping her right now. Dang.
Tali just said, “...”

XD

But I pressed, and for twenty rupees there was an option to race! I wondered how it would go.... Would there be multiple other racers? Would it be just me and Tali? Would we have to jockey for position?
But it turned out that I alone had only to race against Tali’s winning time.
Well that wouldn’t be so bad. :)
A minute and a half to beat....
But where was the course? Would it be marked? How would I know which way to go?
Perhaps it wasn’t quite like me, to go rushing into something so fast, but before I knew it the screen faded out and I had set the sequence in motion: I stood poised on my shield behind a tame sand seal, all hitched up and ready to go. The timer was counting down—
Ah, I could see it now.... Those were gates!
In front of me, two tall posts were bowed toward each other, tied at the top with ropes and flags to make a shape like a Gothic arch. Similar sets of posts marched off into the dunes in the distance and beyond obstacles....
I could do this! :D
And the timer wound down and I was off.
I don’t remember what distracted me from making my seal dash right off the start.... Maybe just the novelty of the experience. Through the gate, darting ahead between a mess of rocks, down through a narrow little sink where the boulders rolled around—and the music! What a happy, flutey little jig was the music! ^_^ Made all the more charmingly amusing by the fact that as my sand seal put out bursts of speed it seemed to snorfle along right in time to the beat. XD
There was a cool stretch that curved right underneath a giant ribcage that bent round a large rock—and then it was straight through a Lizalfos camp? What the heck??— But there was the next gate just beyond the three skull-dens—I urged my sand seal onward....!
And I burst through a drop with my sand seal leaping through the air like a salmon and the finish line sounded and I had completed the race in a minute and seventeen seconds! I beat the record! ^_^
The sequence brought me right back to the little sand hill, where several Gerudo had turned out to watch me race. Tali finally spoke up and offered me a gracious congratulations, and the crowd all cheered as I was awarded the trophy they had handed down through the years—a Sheikah orb.
Well I knew just where to put that!
I set it down in the glowing orange dais and the Raqa Zunzo Shrine rumbled up out of the earth.
Cool.
Once I had collected the Spirit Orb, I spoke to Shabonne once again.
She was pretty wound up that I had beaten her champion. And she challenged me to another go, this time with a little wager.... If I could beat the time I had just set, she would give me three hundred rupees.
But I had to put up a hundred rupees of my own to start.
Well, considering my sloppy start the previous time....
It was a deal.
And I did the race in a minute sixteen this time! The extra rupees were most welcome—I had been a little low on cash.
Shabonne conceded that I had some skill, then. And Tali opened up a bit as well. She spoke about the trophy, and told me that, though it had been awarded to her before, she was never really sure she would be the one to awaken the shrine I think that’s what she said or something like it.
Had each winner been attempting to summon the shrine?
But there was something about me, she said, that she felt was different. When she looked at me. And I had been the one to awaken the shrine.
Wait just how Chosen was I, if the Sheikah relics were reacting only to me?
That was something new to think about....
I went back to town and visited the guards again.
Barta was still down in Dragon’s Exile.
Did I want to do that tonight? It’d been a long day....
And then one of them shared with me the rumor that THERE WAS A FAIRY AT THE LEVIATHAN SKELETON SOUTHWEST OF TOWN.
OH for
. . . .
No, this day was too long.
I went to just stay at the inn. Romah’s inn. The Hotel Oasis.
Standard, please, I said, not the spa plan—and handed over twenty rupees.
Besides if they spa me they might find out I’m a man.
It was 4:05 in the morning, game time, and I’d seen two Blood Moons in this town, consecutively.
I asked the innkeep to wake me at noon.
“Sav’orr” she bade me as I went to bed.
Good night.
